Entabeni Safari Conservancy, South Africa
Entabeni Private Nature Reserve, Ravineside
Meals: Lunch/Dinner
On your arrival at Johannesburg Airport we will be met by our driver to transfer to Ravineside Safari Lodge. The transfer takes approximately 3.5 hours.
The Entabeni Conservatory offers a true African bush experience in the Waterberg’s Big Five country and covering more than 22 000 hectares of bushveld, ravines, savanna, sandy wetlands and wooded hills. Even better, the entire reserve is Malaria-free. There are 5 different ecosystems within the reserve offering excellent game viewing safaris and bird watching. Ravineside lodge is built on stilts, hugging the side of a cliff under Entabeni Mountain. A visitor on safari in South Africa will be awestruck by the unrestricted views of ravines and hillsides.
The Lodge has wooden lodges on stilts, each lodge with luxury en suite bedrooms, decorated in a traditional African theme. Ravineside also hosts a large central swimming pool for guests to cool off in. The spa offers a variety of treatments for those who wish to truly unwind during their time in the bush. Weather permitting, dinners are regularly served in the boma with its wonderfully wild ambience. This afternoon we’ll embark on our first exciting game drive!
Connecting with the people
Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
After a thrilling game drive in the cool morning air, taking in the dreamy landscape as the sun teases the mists from the rugged African bush, we are sure to site an elephant, Giraffes, or a variety of species of antelopes grazing nearby and likely one or more of the big 5. After a satisfying breakfast, we will have a special day of not just witnessing the animals of this unique region, but connecting, and more importantly supporting the unique and proud people of this region. Through the lodge’s LEGEND SPORT & EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, we will have the opportunity to visit the Sterkrivier people and work with them on a project to better the community.
In addition to a dance program to encourage traditional culture that is easily lost in modern society, they also have developed a computer program and have a primary school. Please consider bringing an old laptop to donate, which can empower students to gain the skills needed to change the destiny of their family and future. We will not only be able to give back to people truly in need, but we’ll have a very unique opportunity to step away from the windows of our vehicles and the lenses of our cameras, and truly connect to the people and culture we have travelled so far to see.
If we are lucky, we may get an opportunity to have a visit from the local Dance school for a private performance and cultural exchange in the evening, schedules permitting.
The African sunset will beckon us back to our beautiful retreat, where we will enjoy the blessings of a luxurious lodge, and a sumptuous meal, appreciating all that we have.
Accommodation for the next 6 nights is in comfortable luxury tents at the Wildside Safari Camp. With 20 tents, including four family tents all with en suite facilities and the open lounge/bar area with the romantic roaring fire in “the boma”, the perfect end to a relaxed day in the bush is complete.

Another day of giving back
Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
After an exhilarating morning of stunning wildlife, we once again have the opportunity to connect with the community and contribute to those in need. The Schaaphok Primary School is just a short ride from our remote retreat, where we will donate supplies, teach class, help with their meals in wheels farming program, play with the kids, and contribute to Destination Earth’s popular Lending library where we each bring toys and games that can be checked out by the kids and returned at the end of their learning/play session to the library. We plan on a couple of special stops along the way to view unique vignettes of life outside of the game reserve.

"I had a great time this past week and want to thank you for all the work you and Jud and Joe did in planning the adventure. Your willingness to change plans and be so accommodating made the trip extra special for me. And of course, the humor. What can I say? I felt like we were all part of a close family. I have told several people about Destination Earth and hope they will contact you. Thanks again, Kathy"

“Steve, Jud, and Tom made this trip one of the best outdoors events I have attended. It was amazing, exciting, fun, well planned and oh did I mention fun? Great campfire stories.”

"Jud and Steve did a fabulous job on my recent tour with them to Myanmar and Sumatra. They really listen carefully to our desires and are open to making any adjustments in their planned itinerary to give everybody everything they want to experience. For example, the main reason I signed up for the trip was to photograph the ancient temples in Bagan. Well, following a less than stellar sunset shoot at the temples on our last night due to weather, even though we were flying out about 10 AM the next morning, they scrambled and put together a sunrise shoot that turned out to be mind blowing incredible! I’m so thankful for that ?? and it remains as one of my top two memories of the trip. All along the way we stayed very comfortably in great hotels and ate wonderful local food. So, thanks guys, we’ll definitely do it again!"
